There certainly is a track record of delays, arrogance, hubris, and technological problems which could have been avoided if the Q would have been given a foothold in fortress Europe. The whole GPRS/EDGE/UMTS fiasco did not have to happen.

Take a look at Korea for a taste of what the European future could have been. No need to wait until 2005. The US will follow shortly with Sprint and Verizon.

The Euros managed to kill off a golden goose.

And you're right, I have no idea what it takes to implement the services, etc., as you suggest. But I'm quite capable of making comparisons based on existing facts on the ground.
