NYCB, Money flows downhill, like water and electricity. The trick is to earn it there and spend it here [or in India or somewhere cheap but cheerful]. The weird thing about it is that it ends up at the same level [much like those tricky perspective pictures which show people walking around and around upstairs yet never actually going higher]

That's why I'm such a globalisation fan club member. People in the USA have created abstract value such as cyberspace, US$, legal systems, software, which is great. So, people like Irwin Jacobs can hire the rest of us to do the dirty work while he gets on with the smart stuff.

People out in the bush who have saved some shekels can send them to Irwin to develop the next great thing which will be sold around the world and the profits then flow out to the bush enabling we bush babies to buy CDMA gadgets [Made in China], Lexus cars [Made in Japan], financial services [Made in USA] and Saudi oil [Made in Subduction].

Found wealth [mining] is not as good as industrial wealth [Lexus] which is not as good as technological wealth [CDMA] which is not as good as intellectual wealth [US$, patents, financial services, software]. Natural wealth, such as a good climate, clean air, quiet, peace, ocean, bush, wildlife are good too, but it takes US$ to enjoy them.

But all need to be integrated for maximum utility. Man cannot live on CDMA alone [or martinis for that matter].
