When LVLT hit the 52 week low for the first time at around $52.00. Everyone I knew at Kiewit were ready to pump not only their life saving into this bargin, but also borrowed money. I tried explain why LVLT could fall down below $5.00 and was only laughed at.

Despite my long term bearish views then I. I am considering buying. Though I will not buy while the market is still in a down trend.

The problem with LVLT is not so much its ability to turn cash flow positive prior to running out of cash. Its the fact that $8 billion in bonds will be due in a small window of time in the mist of a credit crunch. I do not care if LVLT is even profitable by 2006. $8 billion is alot of debt to restructure without dilution.

I belive this is the problem. But if LVLT hits $2 per share at a time when T, WCOM, and the European telecoms have gotten their debt sorted out. You may see a solution worked out for LVLT problems.

What is on your side is James Crowe, Walter Scott, and Kiewit. These people refusal to accept failure may create the failure. It kind of like having a $1,000 bet on the 23 point favored in a football game. The score may be 38 to 14 with 2 minute left. The dogs have the ball on the 18 yard line 4th down - easy feild goal range. The odds are you will win the bet because they will go for the touch down and fail vs the easy field goal.

Janus has been dumping LVLT. I think these guys caught on to the fact that damage control is not the James Crowe way. Still I would be nervious about shorting a stock that would rise to $6.00 if Crowe was ever terminated.
