That was not the case in the 73 Yom Kipor war. The Arabs caught the Israelis flat footed and did serious damage. I remember the 6 day war when the fastest thing in Earth was an Arab tank with it's back up lights on.

About the third day my discharge was postponed and we were ordered to be unarmed medics for both sides. The mechanics found enough maintenance on the ambulances on the choppers and ambulances to slow us up a couple of days and then it was over. I remember all the reserve blood for the GIs and their dependants in Europe was sent to the area.
