It's actually obscene government greed. The Clinton legacy is a government that illegally takes over 40% of production in taxes. The Clinton Bear market was inevitable, given the Democrats continuing power to keep taxation obscenely high...

"A lot of people who voted for Bush last November because of the immorality factor are going to rethink how bad it was to have a Democrat in the White House when their 401(k) plans are sucking pondwater"

I am going to give you an example of how to think positively. You may be surprised at how much happier you will be. You seem extremely unhappy based on your doom and gloom reports on the thread. Here goes:

People that are funding their 401k's now are going to do VERY VERY well. It's good to buy low.

You doomsayers phrase the market crash like every 401K was funded at Naz 5000 and had to sell today. I have been investing for only 7 or 8 years and I invest heavily in tech and I still have almost a 100% gain. Looks like crap compared to last year, but so what. If I wanted safety I would have bought cd's.

Plus you seem so concerned for the little guy. How much does the little guy have invested in the stock market anyway? I have heard only 18% (or something near there) actually invest in the market. I am sure someone will correct me if that is way off. I am going to go out on a limb and say that you and your wife will be fine in your retirement years even thought we had GWB as a president.

I could be wrong. Feel free to continue your "life sucks" saga and wait for the market to go to zero. It will all be GWB's fault and that will offer you some solice.

I don't know ANYONE, not a single soul, who makes investment decisions based upon who is the the WH. Its just plain silly.
