Thanks for the link. I've been to Norway to visit my relatives (I'm 1/2 Norwegian) and have actually seen those little critters.

You are correct that they don't deliberately kill themselves but by my own observation they are not very smart.

I understand, but cannot prove, that the idea of lemming suicide stampedes were introduced to the public in a Disney production.
