Well, don't know Canadian law at all. Here, there are a lot of tricks if you want to pay for them. Most require a knowledgable attorney. Did the cop use radar? If so, was his radar properly calibrated, and when was it calibrated, and where are the records to prove it, was he fully trained according to state law, and where is the proof, etc. Did he track you in his car? if so, when was his speedometer last calibrated, where's the proof, when were his tire pressures last checked (tire pressures affect the speedometer reading), etc. Lots of tricks. Usually it's cheaper to pay the ticket and ask for mitigation (on first offense it's usually granted down here). The times we fight them are when it's not a first offense, the insurance is going to go up big time or the license will be suspended. Experts figure they can beat about 70% of tickets, and generally charge a flat fee, up to $5,000, up front to fight the ticket.

Outside of having myself declared mentally unfit to drive are there any tricks in trying to fight a speeding ticket? You could try this: <<I leaned over to him and plucked his glasses off his face and said "kid, if you ever want to see these glasses alive again you'll hurry up with my order" I then rolled up the window. >>
