Intels bold move with this years capex should payoff big for amat next year as others now scurry to catch up.

Mostly only AMD is worried about Intel...maybe Sun and IBM a little but Sun doesn't do fab internally. I think AMD has a 300mm pilot line in their Dresden plant but I'm not really the one to ask. So I really wouldn't say "others" but AMD certainly must be thinking about keeping up!

I don't know how much catch-up others will be able to afford as we go forward and I expect intc's capex for next year to be well below this year's.
