<Why would you think the consumers would suddenly wake up and become fiscally responsible after a lifetime of recklessness?> history teaches us that consumers do in fact have dramatic swings from being spendthrift to savings obsessed. This is one the most dramatic events in a shift from bull mania optimism rampant cycle into a bear demania pessimism cycle. It is probably the most powerful cycle in the market place.
There is NOTHING that makes us immune to this cycle and in fact the overall indebtedness and spending excesses of our consumer makes what is called the ROLL-OVER all the more likely.
The complacency of those who do not study the history mass psychology will not be broken until it is too late.
It matters not to me if you listen.I just present the facts of history.
I am neither by NATURE a bear or a bull. But i am an objectivist. And i have yet to see one solid objective argument from the bulls to change my view up to now.
Come xmas and the the developing of the 1st quater,if the consumer is still spending at rates that do not clearly show deacceleration in their spending,i will change my attitude.
But if i,and others, who think this way,are correct,we will not hit our true bottom, true capitulation, until NEXT year as the braking in consumer spending would trigger the final capitulation.Max
