The alternative in that situation would be "socialist government's meddling in the free market", like in Germany. The economy can have a net to do its flying tricks, or do without it. Which one to be preferred? I'd go for a consensus like in Netherlands - its social, if not (gasp) socialist.

CB calling YOU cynical!! Good grief.

If round one investors don't know how to price something in surplus, round two investors might do. If they don't, round three investors will [but by then Globalstar's assets will be nearing the end of their life so round two better price it right and undercut other services such as CB's overpriced, old tech Inmarsat stuff].

Not cynical at all. How it should be! I see similar flavour in Global Crossing [though I remain deeply ignorant about it]
