Well Folks,
This doesnt look pretty. Unemployment numbers worse that expected reversed what was to be an Intel led positive opening. mike
PS Bullish spin would be is that August saw the last of the downsizing necessary to get balance sheets healthier in order for the uptick in business that now seems to be here(Richards List). Hopefully the layoffs will lessen in september and by Christmas we could be moving back the other way. Any takers on this spin?

4 possible political things to do to prevent friday/monday/tuesday scenario that is unfolding:

Intermeeting 1/2 point cut by the fed(bankers already talking about half point cut in october--just had coffee with one)

Leadership from the President (oxymoron)

Bipartisan congressional support for a dramatic cap gains cut (Yeah right)

Plunge committee to the rescue (does merrill have any more money left to plunge)
