In fairness to the analyst's, some came away from the call with positive remarks:

08:18 ET Intel (INTC) 26.10: --Update-- Bear Stearns reaffirming Buy rating following Mid-Qtr call; says the only negative change was gross margin guidance being below the mid-point of the previous range; although stock has theoretical downside risk to the $22 level, thinks INTC is a good investment at its current price; sees upside potential to the $45 level over the next 12 months... Stock trading $0.38 higher in pre-market.
07:56 ET Intel (INTC) 26.10: -- Update -- Goldman Sachs reiterates RECOMMENDED LIST rating and says midQ update was "better than we had any right to expect"; cuts EPS estimates slightly but says news could have been worse.

RE:"As long as this holds up, the economy will stagger along (at least). But if housing even pauses, it will get really ugly"

Just wait...
