Everything I have read on the subject of fiber optics has told me the exact same thing you did... It's the last mile holding back fiber's potential. The backbone is essentially laid and it is true there exists "oodles" of excess capacity. As the last mile gets built that excess capacity will vanish into thin air. Isn't it great that the media and analysts are concentrating mostly on the backbone and ignoring the issue of the last mile? Has caused all optic companies to be treated with disdain, and created tremendous buying opportunities recently. Really like ONIS and have accumulated a substantial position. The volatility of the stock has also made it an excellent trading vehicle.
