>>The world is moving towards wireless handhelds.<<

I have to question that statement.

It seems that every time a new technology comes along, some people decide that it's going to replace an old one. Sometimes that happens, and sometimes it doesn't.

For example, TV didn't kill radio, as was predicted. Radio is still around, doing the things that it can do better than TV, like keeping you entertained and/or informed while you're driving.

Another good case, and probably a more direct comparison: Cell phones have become ubiquitous, but they have not replaced home telephone sets.

I do believe that we will see increasing use of wireless handheld computers. But that doesn't mean for a moment that the home or office PC will go the way of the dodo.

The last thing I would want to do is give up my nice big monitor and comfortable keyboard and mouse for a damn Palm VII when I'm at home. Sure, I'll eventually buy some descendant of the Palm VII, but no way will it replace my G4.
