JS - Repsonding toughly oin your order:-

1. Hugh definition PDA screens much better quality even by the end of this year. Later flexible screens that you can fold up like a handkerchief obviously much bigger. PDAs with slgithy larger screeen sizes are not tiny.

2. Always on well lets just ask the thread if they think that always on is an advantage, a big advantage over having to logon.

2. My Cassiopaiea has an AOL program on it that does AOL page in full color. I don't use it because you need to hard wire it to a phone jack....but when it is from PCS or VZ in a few weeks wow. I'm in hog heaven. Now as fo rthe screeen sizes and their current utility well I think that the oncoming of the fast wireless service is going to drive the pages and serivices. There are numerous commercial models that one could name to compare this with but I can think of a bunch of web pages that have never been in use before that I would use will use with 1X and always on. Just a for instance...I going downtown I will have a map web page which acts like a GPS with a real time map of where I am. It will shoew around my location all sorts of overlays like ...restaurants or Chinese restaurants or friends or income levels or news today or recently. I feel sick and need a pharmacy urgently...touch a red button on my PDA and there they are.... or a shoe repairer.etc

3. 90 Kbps video ...actually not too bad. See the Bloomberg TV on the WEB at 56Kbps. As for the commercial hook well I don't think there is anything to touch it except more speed. Conversation between Grannyand the Grandchildren, or little bubales are out at the park and Mom and Dad wnat to share that with Zeida...please no contest. Or how about this one I go to the latest rock concert and my pal wants to see it too but he is in the airport stuck waiting for a flight....out comes my pda and guess what we've got another napster issue ecept much bigger. Corporate well that doesn't need selling does it? Hospitla, accident and emergency teams ...I could go on all night.

4 International rates dirt cheap...well Net to Phone makes a business and still ants lots of customers so I guess there must be money in it and then of course we have intenational vidoephone cheap rates too.

5. Yes Christmas. EG Sony are apparently bringing out a tiny Cam corder with fantstic quality with much smaller tapes than MinDV. IT is apparently Blue Tooth equiped and they want it so that you can communicate with your phones. As for communicating with laptops well I'm sure there are otehrs on the thread who can tell you that this is easily available by Christmas.

ATM well maybe not by Christmas but there is an Israeli company that has been working on using handest to pay for everything and vitrtually eliminate credit cards.

6. Well knowing where everyone else is and displaying it more improtantly is what Snaptrack is all about in one way of looking at it. I thought there was the E 911 law that is now in force and requires 30% of all new handsets to have location technology....now. You won't have to wait 5 years for this to become useful.

7. Sure you can have the resataurant details on CD or Yahoo but now it will be permanently on in your pocket as I have described above. That is the big change and the change in utility is what will make it turn on.

8. Corporate, medical, military, government, police, fire, ambulance, inventory. Well where to start...workers out the city looking at a piece of work or equipment, doctors wanting to anotehr doctor and show him something. Policeman shows a scene or suspect to his office or antoerh town instatantly. Inventory ....take alook our the levels or condidtions in our warehouse, is this what you wanted you there is no yellow there is only etc etc.

THe really big issue herre is that most people just ahve no idea about the fundamental change that is about to be brought into their lives by the change in utility.

We techies are probably quite boring at diner parties unless there are other techies around but wehen you love technology you do get a different view of the future.

Best,

L
