Yep, "Wagons Ho" on the Donner Party" but I think the original Donners woulda made it if it hadn't been for winter.

This TA thing I've been grinding my brain into mush about has to do with finding the development of trends other than just eye balling them or arbitrarily jamming together leading and lagging indicators. The best thing I've found is the "Vertical Horizontal Filter" in MetaStock. It basically lays a Rate of Change on a background of lows and highs for a period.

By changing the period, I can plot any term of trend. It's sort of like the stock's price tellin' ya, "I'm a lot like I was back then by moving down" and "I'm nothing like that now by heading up.". Of course, the tricky part is figuring out which direction it's going but that's what the leading indicators are for: a trading market. There's a great little reversing mechanism in the thing that shows continuing trends...at least in my interpretation of it.

I went through every trending indicator that I could lay my hands on and put them one by one onto a chart that I knew was this a good example of trading and trending by looking at it. This one layed down the most believable and easy-to-read pattern.

The testing and interpretation and such is keeping me off the streets and outta trouble, but I'm really going to need glasses when this obsession runs its course. Remember when we said we'd quit when we needed glasses?

Whoops, there's the news out of Donner, gotta go...Have a great weekend.

Happy Trails,
Lenny
