Exactly! It's like rationalizing that if a bed sold a few months ago at $200, then a sale price of $75 must be a steal. The only thing is, if they're willing to sell it for $75 then it must have been marked up a lot before and now how much is it really worth!! Shoot, maybe I can get it for $50...

John

Actually I'm pretty much on your wavelength.

The whole way to the bottom there still will be people who want to own or add to this stock. I think we can agree that is a given.

I threw out all the "formulas" for figuring "worth" in a stock a long, long time ago since psychology rules so much in the short term thinking of all of us. Long term...well a different story!

But......We all seem to look for the magic formula that will tell us when to buy or sell an investment. We have had a huge run-up since August of 82 and I've been fortunate to ride that wave the entire time and I know we have to pay the price now.

But

The party is not over unless we want to give up on capitalism!

John I absolutely agree with your "value models", the question I ask at this juncture is how much we should weigh them.

I've been itching like mad to get back in this market and I did a few % of assets into biotech last December but I have continued to lower my GTC limit orders for the last 5 or 6 months.... It's frustrating but I've somehow managed to keep the powder dry.

When this turns it's gonna be impressive!

regards,

Eric

P.S. Hopefully two steps forward and only one step backward.

Hi John, check out quicken.com's website. They have this oneclick scorecard that I like to use, which gives you a place to start.
quicken.com

Just look to the left and click on "one click scorecard". Anyway, they also maintain a list of stocks that are trading at a discount to intrinsic value based on their metrics. Check it out. It's interesting. Although, not a substitute for real valuation techniques, I do like it because it helps people remove emotions from analysis and it give folks a good starting point. Anyway, enjoy!
