Left exits are fairly rare, and I tend to stay in the center, and move back and forth depending upon this and that (do I want to pass?, is my exit coming up?). Also, on your side of the Potomac, I tend to use the GW Parkway whenever I can, so I would likely avoid the Beltway unless I were going to Tysons Corners or something else near it. In the last two or three years, I think I have been on 95 going to Richmond more than 495 north of Alexandria/south of Arlington........
