Wanna, Re: <Looking for patterns in old graphs is a poor way to invest. While history can teach us many lessons, it sure couldn't predict the crash in the market between late last year and now...>

Jeez, Wanna, you just took out the whole field of Technical Analysis.

And I would submit that by looking at a graph of real interest rates last year you could pick up on what was likely to happen to the stockmarket later.

Alan was late figuring it out and the *DO-DO* is deep.

And I'm not saying AMD is going up. You buy Calls on big down days with no news and Puts on big up days.

Or at least I do.

Wanna Bmw Re..Looking for patterns in old graphs is a poor way to invest. <<<<<<<<<<<<<<

Are you sure? I'll bet Martin Zweig can afford more BMW's than you could ever dream of. Why don't you read a book on TA before you speak; so you know what you are talking about for a change.

so I doubt it can predict an AMD comeback over the next few months<<<<

TA doesn't predict timing, but rather predicts the number and depth of movements and how to spot changes. Of course, TA is an inexact science, but it is better to bet with the odds, rather than against them. It is just like playing poker. You can bet that an expert poker player doesn't know anymore than you what the next card will be, but you can bet that he will clean your clock by betting the odds.

Simply wrong, sorry...
