Depends on how you define clear and lucid....but I can see your point. You prefer analogies and hyperbole mixed with brilliant writing skills. You have a wonderful way with words. As much as I understand what you're saying, I don't find your writing style particularly clear. I prefer cold hard facts and statistics that back words up. Just a matter of preference. Speaking of barbarians and jungle thumping and such is all well and good. To speak about real economic conditions is quite another. I'm not criticizing your style...it's a style that works for you and alot of others. I'm just not enamored of it, is all. And that's okay. People like different things.
