I have posted my opinions on this many times. I suspect that we have the same views.

I believe that he bought into the Y2K hype even though there was ample evidence that the risk was minimal to non-existent. If you look at the "Y2K Stocks", the companies that were to address Y2K remediation, their prices started falling off early in 1999. That is because most of the remediation was done, the risk was gone.
