A lot of techs are down 80%. Even some widely held ones like Lucent.
There will be a lot of sifting out before its over...

I can easily explain a 60% to 80% drop

Look at yahoo, AMAZON, INTEL, MOTOROLA, HP, DELL, GATEWAY, AMAT, CMGI, or thousands of other active tech stocks and you will see drops from a year ago that could easily be between 60% and 80%. Even in stocks like Ford and General Electric you have drops of 1/3 to 1/2 in this year.

The case can be made that, whatever the loss, it is numbing to the passive investor who really doesn't understand why so much money is missing from their retirement account and is baffled on what to do with the losses facing them.
