Hi x,

As far I know the NDX has not been re-balanced yet and that is the one that touched the April low on Friday. In terms of a of double bottom re-bound, the NDX will be re-balanced at the end of this month,so it could be argument as a counter point that the NDX will rally only as a result of the re-balancing.

THos that get dropped might be interesting short candidate. Losing mutual fund sponsor ship will be quite devasting for some of these stock as their business model are now quie shake.

Just adding a little note here with some thoughts: At the end of the month, the Nasdaq-100 will be rebalanced. In effect, this means companies which have fallen from the top 100 companies by market cap will be pulled out in favor of the companies which now stand. I suspect this time around will be interesting: many trashed tech names will be cut (ATHM, EXDS, et al.) while many new names will be coming in -- particularily those in the biotech sector, which has been a pocket of relative strength for the nasdaq composite. This will obviously have an interesting effect on not just biotech stocks themselves, but also on the potential growth and volatility of the QQQ's. So, here's to an interesting end of the month. Of yeah, don't forget we have triple witching coming in a few weeks, which usually ends up with some interesting movements as well. none

There was indeed a meeting on Sep 4 to discuss interest rates as shown here. I suspect it is likely any action to be taken from there would have been taken already. Also keep your eyes on the fed meeting schedule.

X, good points. I agree.......You can even point to the "substantial" drop in QCOM & MSFT (heave weights) as further capitulation that has pushed the nasdaq below 1800.
