denni, RE: Metricom

They're still in Chapter 11. The symbol nowadays is MCOQE, but you won't find anything there, either. Nasdaq is delisting the stock today, so you'd have to look on the Pink Sheets. Not that there will be any bid, however. Aerie offered $2.5mm for the main asset of Metricom, Ricochet, and that's against about $1 billion of debt.

Hi Denni, Andy Grove was trying to convince politicians that the government should allow/encourage large telcos to get more involved in certain markets, through tax incentives and through allowing the large telcos to charge enough so that they may make a realistic "profit." Not sure if he was talking about the market you're referring to since there are other market blow ups in the comm industry.

In the commmunications industry, where so much advancement is being stripped away, what's next best, is indeed the popular question these days. In some areas, I understand the government is blocking the next best. That'll do just wonders to our GDP. The current head of the congressional communications committee seems to have a bad attitude (as in, he doesn't seem to like communications), and needs to go, if my read on him is correct.

We really need to get some high-tech execs into public office. Too bad Andy Grove couldn't be cloned.

Regards,
Amy J
