TWY, Re: "How can it be lower volume? It replaces two separate architectures (R6000 and AS400) It will have decidedly higher volume than either. How humongous is Power3?? I believe you are slinging it once again."

A sum total of 34 words. 5 sentences ...... none more than 8 words. I could not be more clear what 2 issues I had with your post. I would have to speak in abbreviated non sentences to make it shorter. You are being completely disingenuous. If you can not comprehend a post of that level of complexity, I simply can not help you.... nor will I try."

And I have already told you that you may be right about Power4 being higher volume than Power3. However, what I still disagree with is that it could be higher volume, or cost competitive, with respect to Itanium, which was the original drift of the conversation you had responded to.

You later claim that Power4 should be considered cost competitive, or even better, wrt Itanium, due to it having manufacturing costs lower than what Intel charges for IBM to buy Itanium. Yet both I and others have told you not to ignore the cost of development, which would have an impact on your cost models between both chips. If you still insist on arguing that point, then provide evidence on top of the MPR estimated costs about IBM's development costs, and see if that exceeds Itanium's price from Intel.

But, if anything, consider your above conversation dead. I have no interest in discussing whether Power4 will be higher volume than Power3. It was a fleeting remark (and probably wrong) that was used in the context of a larger argument about Itanium. You should have been able to comprehend that by now, but I fear the complexity may be too much for you.
