SHANGHAI (CBS.MW) - Shanghai's foreign firms will be allowed to list on China's stock market next year, according to news reports.

Chinese authorities plan to soon set guidelines for listing foreign shares, according to a Dow Jones report that cited the Sunday edition of Japan's Nihon Keizai Shimbun.

By midday Monday, the Shanghai B share index had risen 2.02 percent to 166 points.

Heavyweight companies, including Eastman Kodak (EK: news, chart, profile), Unilever NV (UN: news, chart, profile), French telecommunications equipment maker Alcatel (ALA: news, chart, profile) are preparing to list, the report said.
