Msft- I like to see MSFT take a breather here and test 120 preferably 115 to make up for the big gap. If INTC is unable to move up MSFT and may be IBM in sympathy trade lower and test supports.

INTC strategy- waiting like a fisherman with a 'stale' bait..THe story will not change until circumstances don't. This is a kind of discipline we need to avoid whiplash:

Watch out for fresh trades, so far we have saved ourselves from whiplash as we are on the sidelines waiting for that ultimate breakout, inability of INTC to breakout of 1481/2 and SOXx to back out from 310 is a sign of big resistance, triple witching unwindings may have been a very minor reason but I reduce INTC chnces to go higher every single day it faces this huge resistance at 1481/2, I think COMs earnings on tuesday may give some direction and much needed impetus to this otherwise listless INTC sideway flirtation.

It is kind of a stock that if it does not break up it will under its own weight violently try to undo the shackles, this coming break is going to be fast and violent and if triggered by any negative event will take INTC to test 140, the resistance that it needs to break.

Until then the up trend is intact and I will look to establish positions as soon INTC takes out decisively 1481/2 and 311.8 SOXx.

All other positions are to hold until INTC breakout, SUNW, CA, HWP IBM MSFT COMS AMAT ASYT KLIC WDC SEG QNTM will all suffer if INTC test old lows. Better off to wait and let market lead you to nirvana and hopefully EL darado.

P.S.MO settlement very good for Tabacco industry.

Andy Groove on competition and software companies, Are you threatened by competition from CYRIX AMD? Andy Groove answers abolutely...and more...

Subject: INTEL- Money Making Option Ideas for Small Investors

Compared with software companies, you have such a capital-intensive business. Perhaps your risk is seen as higher?

The world is filled with the cadavers of dead software companies--far more than the cadavers of dead semiconductor companies. Software companies can disappear almost overnight. Semiconductor companies undulate and fluctuate, but they don't go away. But I can't even think of Intel as a semiconductor company anymore.

How would you describe your business?

We build the guts of modern computing, period. We'll go away when modern computing goes away. Or we'll go away if computing takes a left turn and goes back to [dumb terminals]. But that's not an overnight phenomenon.

We haven't touched on the competition. Do you see AMD and Cyrix as a threat?

Absolutely.

Then why did you let them have MMX [an Intel technology that enables chips to handle graphics and video better]?

Because we wanted to standardize it. You want to figure out what we worry about? Every single time it's going to be growth, the growth of the industry. MMX, networked multimedia, was the next thing this industry needed.

So standardization overrode whatever fears you had about competition?

Yeah. But by the way, it wasn't an obvious decision. We sat around the conference tables and murdered each other over that issue for some time.

Some people say you gave away the technology to keep alive the competition.

We're not that complicated! We compete to win. We don't compete to push them to some minimum and then back off. '

Is this Spain???

NO I DON'T THINK SO.

Damn don't you hate hindsight....especially when it looks back 9 months and sees where you could have made a gazillion dollars on some early summer buys of MSFT calls.

I hope your losses were minimal.

Spain would be a nice place to visit after doubling your money invested in MSFT calls.
