Your logic is as tortured as ever, Elmer. P5 and P6 coexisted for a long time, and probably would have coexisted longer if Intel hadn't felt the need to kill Socket7. Killing SocketA will be a lot harder, though. Keep spewing the NetB*s marketing line, though, that's what you're good at.

Elmer, Unable to learn from the past, you think it will always stay that way.... Interesting post. I don't normally think of drones in terms of learning. AMD didn't design a CPU that worked 'till '96. And the K6, released in '97? was mostly bought. The Athlon was designed and released for '00. The Hammer is due in '02. Sounds to me like AMD's on a 2 to 3 year generation schedule. Next year INTC's going to be dealing with G-7 Hammers using two year old P-4 design. It's not going to be pretty.
