An extreme irony scenario: Mankind finally learns to live peacefully with itself. All weapons of mass destruction are gone physically and from memory for many decades. Pollution-free environment is the only kind in existence. Nobody is poor. governments and armies are largely ceremonial for things like Olympic Games, etc. Then comes the "Extinction Event" asteroid.
