Not sure what you find so funny - although, when I revisited my statement, I can see it wasn't too clear. I said:

"is headed the way of the television and CRTs - there is not a single manufacturer of TVs in the US (frightening thought in case of war). "

The frightening thought was that no one manufactures CRTs in this country, and, given the critical nature of this component in so many aspects of life, everything from oscilloscopes to computer monitors to avionics etc, the thought is truly frightening.

Dear Fyo:

Perhaps you do not know that all large CRT monitor tubes are manufactured here in the US. Something about our productivity being much better. If the manufacturing facilities are here, it does not matter where the owners are. In war, we could use emminent domain to opt these plants to produce. The problem is that the really big wars would be over and done long before it was needed. GTNWs are so quick!
