That's a very good idea.

It may not be a bad idea to fill up some containers with water, gather candles?

That brings back memories. I still have my Y2K lantern. That was the one thing I bought for the occasion. I had always used a big flashlight but I thought a hands-free lantern would be a good idea to have in any event so that I could read during an extended power outage. I keep it in a closet that has no light and I've turned it on once to fish out a foster kitty.

There's an eerie quiet here. I can hear noises that I usually only hear at night, like highway sirens. I395 is completely closed now except for emergency traffic as far as they eye can see in both directions. There are police checkpoints at every entrance. Neighbors have mostly gone inside. It's quite hazardous walking on neighborhood streets because the few cars there are are moving so fast. I had to dodge a couple. I guess that since the highway is closed, people are cutting through neighborhoods, anxious to get home.

Those planes I've been hearing are military jets.
