Wall Street grinds to a halt following WTC crash (from Yahoo)

(UPDATE: Adds SEC details, details of World Trade Center tenants, paragraph 2)

NEW YORK, Sept 11 (Reuters) - Most banks and financial institutions in downtown Manhattan apparently shut down
operations on Tuesday after at least two planes crashed into the nearby World Trade Center, causing both towers to collapse.

U.S. securities markets have decided not to open for trading, U.S.
Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman Harvey Pitt said.

Several top financial services firms have offices in the World Trade
Center, including Morgan Stanley (NYSE:MWD - news), Credit Suisse
Group Inc. , Commerzbank and Deutsche Bank AG.

Employees at the World Financial Center, located to the west of the
World Trade Center and housing the headquarters of firms including
Merrill Lynch & Co. Inc. (NYSE:MER - news) and Lehman Bros.
Holdings Inc. (NYSE:LEH - news), did not answer phone calls put into
their offices.

Several phone lines appeared to be down as well, including cellular
service.
