OMD, very well said.

However.....

There will be no close vote in Congress about declaring such a war.

I didn't see nor hear it, but......

Mario Cuomo on tube saying we need to understand the grievances of the terrorists and act in a thoughtful way to eliminate the provocations. #reply-16330002

good post OMD. I'd think we as parents also face a very difficult day ahead.

What is the correct behavior in front of one's children?

I personally believe that for us to go off about killing, bombing, wiping out, etc would be the wrong response.

The fact is that very few people make decisions that affect many..in most cases the impact of these poor decisions almost always punish the innocents.

I certainly don't want any children dying as a result of our retribution efforts.

I urge everyone to consider the long term damage to those impressionable souls who look to us for guidance in this very difficult situation

OMD...

There are moments when the world changes, inexorably<<

If today is not a defining moment in our history as a nation, I don't know what it will take.

Yes, the world as we KNEW it has changed.

There is no way that we CANNOT respond.

And as you say, it will take days, weeks for the enormity of this act of cowardice and terrorism to take hold in the hearts and minds of our people.

I can't stop thinking about those souls in those 2 towers, and in those planes, KNOWING their fate. Imagine the emotion that would drive a person to jump from the tower to their death. Every time we look at the well known skyline in Manhattan, there will be a remembrance of this day. I don't think it cannot be overstated the depravity of these acts.

The desperate acts of truly evil men. And it is my fervent hope that all known supporters of terrorism will pay the ultimate price.
