Come on, Rich, "ferretting out jewish communist sympathizers" was not exactly the most effective way to fight the cold war during the McCarthy era, nor is witch-hunting the most productive response now. In fact, it can be argued that the McCarthist witch-hunt gave Red China the ICBM capacity, just like Hitler's witch-hunt against jews and other minorities gave the Allies some of the most brilliant scientists that eventually contributed heavily to the defeat of Hitler himself. What makes America great is our ability to accommodate people regardless their political opinions; we outlaw acts, not thoughts. Not to mention that none of the people in your list condone the heinous terrorist attacks. That being said, I do actually agree with your earlier post that this will lead to drastic responses from the US. If not for anything else, our credibility (which is the cornerstone to our own safety and security in the future) is on the line. Jim

Rich, This strike against America is horrible. What has the potential for even worse destruction and killing is the possibility that Usama Bin Laden has nuclear weapons. A number of years ago he was known to be seeking that sort of weapon. He most probably is the mastermind behind this tragedy. His recruits to his terrorist network were trained to pilot large commercial aircraft. Regardless whether this is his attack or not he must be stopped since he has been behind so many other mass bombings and killings already. A military strike of some magnitude will be required to do this and I am behind President Bush 100 % to accomplish this job. Also I agree that perhaps this is a time for many of us to see who are real Americans here on S.I. Ted
