It's natural to report what's being reported. The responsible thing to do is state that the reports are not confirmed. We get unconfirmed reports and rumours every day in the market. Don't hold us to a higher standard the rest of Western society.

Robwin. . . I think you need to reread the thread from today and understand that people were asking for news. . . any shred of information. . . and many here were simply passing along what was being reported by every major news organization out there. I hope that you write each network, local NYC station, DC station and every news service a letter discussing their acts of irresponsibility when some of the information was incorrect or unconfirmed. If you have only leveled your criticism here, I find that hypocritical in the extreme. This is sadly the nature of things when information moves at breakneck speed. Would you rather have heard nothing at all? Would you rather wait until all the facts are gathered? I know I appreciated the efforts of those on this thread, and many in the news media for attempting to keep track of what was going on. It was information overload, and sadly much of the information was true. I still have a cousin in NYC unaccounted for (though there's no great reason to think she was at the WTC), and countless other friends and family impacted by this disaster. Consequently, I'm not speaking to you as a disinterested party. I think today is an emotional day, and little affronts become huge. I find that to be a tragic waste of our energies, when all thoughts and prayers should be focused on those who are suffering. but that's just me a freep
