i think you don't have to be in charge of anything at all to maintain some notion of balance vs. adding to an outburst that could hurt people who have no involvement at all. do what you want.

I'm woefully undereducated about the rest of the world (unlike most Canadians)... (like so many Americans, I don't see past my own nose very well) and will work on correcting that now. I want to find out why we are hated so vehemently and by whom. IMO, your first response was the correct one. The only way to fight terror is with terror. I am sorry, but, the US must fight back. Terror is not going to go away..... We no longer live in Kansas... On another note, I am trying to wrestle how to tell my kids what had happened today. We must fight back. Regards, Peter

You spoke eloquently and from the heart, Bob...and I would bet your sentiments are those of most of us. I'm sure with the team we have assembled in Congress and the Administration, that a considered response will be forthcoming. Heard Kissenger spoke this AM...He felt it was an integrated attack and must be dealt with in an integrated way....He is behind the President in that the first response we must have is to deal with the tragedy and families...after that an integrated effort to deal with the terrorists. He felt this was not an isolated attack....it couldn't be dealt with in a single response. He also said: "everything has changed today."
