RE:"At this time they would have their full load of people(50,000) and none above the impact points got out and many were unable to get down the stairs in time and I also suspect many people failed to antipate the collapses and were killed on the ground."

Full load is 50k but I think 26k between the two is what was estimated. Some might have got out in the 15 minutes after the first plane hit. Before the next one hit.

Due to the horrific nature and method I expect the worst is yet to come as they go through the rubble. Sad. Very sad.

The effect on the economy is secondary now to the sorrow of the families involved but the longer term repercussions could be devistating as well.

Bill,

The people on floors below the impact of the first building had some time to get out, and they keep saying on the news that there are some people in tower impacted in 2nd attack that made it down from as high as 92nd floor. But it is very strenuous activity to go down 100 flights of stairs, with smoke, water around, with lights out, and only emergency lights on.

I just went out on the street, and Manhattan has a very wierd feel. A lot of people are walking in the streets, with no apparent destination, many in business suits. There is almost no car traffic, so it is very quiet. the only thing you hear is the sound of fighter jets flying around and ambulances.

I saw a person in a business suit walking home with his cloths, face and hair covered with dust and smoke.

I wonder if this is sufficient enough warning for the civilized world to wake up. Probably not.

Joe
