My family has all been accounted for

Good, for the time being that's all it really matters.

I do think, though, that it is a measure of our strength as a country and our goodness as human beings to not let ourselves be seduced into the same kind of hate-filled cultural vendetta that we have suffered today.

Believe me: Neither I feel like having a "cultural vendetta" of any sort, [I hardly believe to be in a position to do so anyway], nor am I not "over-reacting" or "seduced" as if I were a crazed-wide-eyed-terrorist.

I am perfectly capable of giving all the goodness as a human being to those who may deserve it.

But not to the terrorists.

I also want the people who did this, as well as those who supported them, to meet with swift and harsh punishment.

Well then, we are in agreement.

Just remember you can't achieve that with love and flowers. You achieve that with bombs aimed at their brains, and pretty is not.

As I said when all this exchange began: Enough is enough, we should not tolerate any more BS to terrorists; I gave already the examples of what I meant by that.

I am perfectly calm and collected and I do understand that life as we used to know it, has changed.

I've finally seen some pictures - earlier I was limited to web and radio reports. I suppose the visuals bring it closer. I still don't think nukes would be a suitable response... but I'm now feeling cruise attacks, and snatch squads, and pretty well anything near.
When I saw the pictures of those poor people on the centre floors, having seen the first tower fall, waving in one last hope... well, there aren't words. I jst don't have the words or even the shape of thoughts to say how I feel.

And I've just seen another 47-storey scraper nearby (Salomon Brothers building?) collapse. please let that at least have been empty.

I suppose it's easier to be reflective at a distance. But no one, no one civilised, can see this with anything but horror and revulsion. And an absolute determination - never again.

<edit> Blair's speech I think shows some of what I feel...
"This is not a battle between the US and terrorism - it is a battle between the free and democratic world and terrorism... we will not rest until this evil is driven from this world."

Britain has also offered the United States "whatever help" necessary to track down the perpetrators.
...
"This mass terrorism is the new evil in our world today. It is perpetuated by fanatics who have no respect for the sanctity or value of human life and we, the democracies of this world, must come together to defeat it and eradicate it."

Justice must, and will, prevail.
