Florida Home Sales Rise Again
According to the Florida Association of Realtors, home resales moved up eight percent in August. A total of 15,981 single-family existing homes were sold. The statewide median sales price rose 11 percent to $130,800.

Interest rates for August dipped below the seven percent mark, to average 6.95 percent for 30-year fixed rate mortgages. That`s a significant drop from August last year.

Sales in Lakeland-Winter Haven leaped forward by 26 percent. One Broker notes there`s strong commercial construction, plus Lakeland-based Publix is hiring. GIECO Insurance has also added staff. The median price of a home in Polk county is now $86,600.

The median home price in Tampa/St. Petersburg/Clearwater now stands at $122,100. The highest median price in the state is Fort Lauderdale at $154,200.

Realtors are cautious about the level of activity this month, as the terrorist attacks have subdued a lot of activity.
