How can you belive that. Arafat NEVER tells the truth. He is the MOST DESPICABLE liar there is. I actually believe Arafat, but it seems he has lost control of his people. jdn

Arafat has always been a weak leader who leads by pandering and following, not leading. And stupid as he is, even he is not stupid enough to be behind this -- nor do I think he has the capacity. But he has lead the hatred and incitement and praise of suicide bombers for years now, all during Oslo. The clergy on Palestinian (state controlled) TV gives sermons every week in praise of jihad and suicide bombers. He has led the people in the mindset that now has them dancing in the streets of the West Bank and Gaza. He cannot escape responsibility, and today is a catastrophe for the Palestinian people, even if most of them are too stupid to realize it.
