Julias - I have worked as a computer consultant for large banks for years.

Been thru many disaster recovery drills that are PLANNED.
Even planned drills have many problems, and tapes etc are gathered in advance typically and sent to the recovery site ahead of time. Also disaster typically happens at a convienent time (after end of day instead of the middle of the online day).

Disaster recovery here obviously was not planned.
If this is back up and validated within 2 days that will be an accomplishment.

If there was anything in flight there it would be unlikely to recover unless there is instantaneously offsite mirroring. Helping the situation was the fact that the markets were not yet open. Chaos if they were. One day if things go AMAZINLY well. Do not count on it.
