Mutual fund redemptions halted

By Craig Tolliver, CBS.MarketWatch.com
Last Update: 4:40 PM ET Sept. 11, 2001

LOS ANGELES (CBS.MW) -- Concerned mutual fund investors hoping to redeem shares in light of Tuesday's terror attacks in New York and near Washington, D.C., will not be able to do so until the markets reopen.

While call centers at most fund firms are open and accepting redemption orders, shares won't be priced until the net asset value, NAV, can be calculated, which would not happen until the next market close.
