I have never figured out hate, though I have seen enough to last a long time in South Africa, former Yugoslavia and even ethnic undercurrents in supposedly placid Mauritius.

Some folks are just determined to hate others. Those that do, I figure they deserve the misery, paranoia and often death and destruction that pervade their lives.

But dumping that hate on innocent bystanders is a crime against humanity that no one should tolerate. The damage to human life and their families is incalculable.

Not being religious myself, I could offer some views on your last question but they might offend some. Basically folks don't practice what they preach. The wisest thing I ever read in the bible was "Judge not lest ye be judged" and it is the first major edict that many fervently religious people seem to ignore.

A good friend of mine in Mauritius was a serious Islamic scholar with a PhD from Penn. He could tell you all about the tolerant tradition of Islam - but he was at a total loss to explain all the bloodshed committed in Islam's name.

Ethnic hatred is the same beast in a slightly different skin.

Covering shorts right away also makes good financial sense.
As I posted elsewhere, after the JFK assassination some A-holes tried to short the markets. Within hours they were wiped out by a sharp snap-back. We could have a 500 point drop on open and back to even by EOD Thursday, assuming we even open Thursday. I will sel oil stocks into any spike and then try to buy cheaper hard-hit sectors.

Very admirable. All shorts should cover ASAP for patriotic reasons (and because they'll never get a lower price than the open). Anyone who attempts to profit from this should be kicked out of the country. If you hear about anyone trying to do it stop them and chastise them.
