RE:"I sense we've seen the beginning of the end of large scale terrorist groups. Many coutries will get out of the terrorist business, or they will be put out of the terrorist business.

Oh, I think they will give lip service while looking the other way...just as they have been.

RE:"The world changed today. A huge price was paid for that change, by a lot of innocent people, and their families. I believe that their sacrifice will eventually lead to a better world."

I certainly hope so but I would think that in order to take these factions out, a number of innocent people might be taken with them. If that happens some people even in this country will be outraged...
Meanwhile we will get weaker and weaker...we have little control, especially of our borders. Easy to drive right in from Canada or take a plane from where-ever...
If you get picked on you get a Lawyer...
We are such an easy target now it's pathetic.

>>Almost certainly Bin Laden. And he and his like will be eliminated, regardless of what it takes.

John, I agree with you, as always, or very close to that. No turning the other cheek on this one. Just heard the first estimate of number of dead due to the terrorist actions, or at least the first I've heard: 10,000, on Fox News. No detail on how they came up with that number.

OT John,

I made some waffles a moment ago and the toaster (that I got from Costco, called Tefal) started on fire, flames and all. (Since when do toasters/waffles catch fire?) I caught it in time, poored water on it, but I could have caught it even earlier (before the flames started) if I wasn't so absent-minded this evening.

This incident makes me realize that tomorrow, a lot of workers in America may be absent-minded or distracted at work tomorrow. Accidents are bound to happen. I think folks should have the day off.

On another note, I stepped outside and noticed how quiet the Bay Area is. No planes are flying overhead (not even Larry Ellison's plane). It is incredibly quiet. I heard the crickets earlier in the night. It is a quiet beauty to 'hear' this silence, though the circumstances that brought this silence are sad.

Regards,
Amy J
