But some of us feel that America has become a bit of a bully boy in the world system and to follow your advice would actually be more harmful than having our leaders take a more conciliatory position

1 - What advice. I only opposed taking George's advice of changing our policies because of a terrorist attack.

2 - You don't take conciliatory positions with people who cold bloody murder thousands, maybe even tens of thousands of innocent civilians.

toward the peoples of the world who don't want the blight of American capitalist supremicists and our toxic culture ruining their ancient societies. There is no clear concensus that the American way is the best way for the entire planet.

There is atleast a weak consensus that democracy with some level of capitalism is the best way. Thats what these people fear. They see our influence as poisoning people against their views. Also while the US is the most powerful and influential country in the world and we are a democratic country with a capitalist economy we are not forcing them on anyone. The US hasn't invaded Afghanistan to install a democracy. We might be an example of success through capitalism and democracy but if a group our country kills our people because of our example they are in no way justified, not even partially. We are not molding the world into chattel states or colonies of the US.
