Can you name me even one time when someone else raced to the Americans in trouble? I don't think there was outside help even during the San Francisco earthquake.

Yes, there was. But good ole Bush (Pop Bush) flatly announced that no outside help would be needed!
Gord Sinclair, for all his preeminence as a Canadian journalist did not get this one 100% right.

Regarding the point of my post, you may interpret it in whatever way you like.

But one thing is certain: Americans are not perfect and would have fared better to have been a little less cocky.

Yes, the US did help many countries but it was not entirely for nothing or pure and unadulterated altruism. Remember the Cold War ---- a time of morbid fear of the former Soviet Union and of the so-called Yellow Peril (China). Uncle Sam poured billions abroad to counter the onslaughts of Communism. It splurged bigtime with an agenda, i.e., to command the loyalty and beholden-ness of the gift recipients. It is ironic that the much feared Yellow Peril contributed much to keeping the US inflation low by supplying it with inexpensive goods and Communism is now seen to be nothing more than a paper tiger.
