Peter Jennings asked the same question tonight, they had an Engineer on from the firm that built the WTC, I thought he was fairly unconvincing. But, his explanation was the heating of the steel over a certain period of time etc.....

Of course the 'Modern' Style skyscraper (which I despise, hate those damn glass boxes) are built with little brick, brick would have helped absorbed the heat from the fire, perhaps saving the steel, perhaps saving the building. And of course, you can't open any windows letting heat out.

I've talked to fellas who've worked on some glass boxes, and they say they build 'em cheap as possible. Get them up, and rent them out.

A day like today reminds you again that money really doesn't mean very much. My god, those poor people. And the hijacked passengers on those 4 planes. How horrible.
