Well, that could certainly be true.

But there goes Japan down another 6% (so far) and unless Europe feels a lot happier tomorrow, ...welll...they are already dwon about 5% today.

I think it might be better to take a holiday and let America get sorted out.

That's just my unselfish side. As you know from three years, I am a fully committed bear and even a residual goldbug. But at this point I sincerely would rather not make any money and see things done for the best interests of everyone.

Michael,
I think that many individuals and traders may indeed feel stubborn about selling, but what about all the fund managers who are facing a 5-10% disconnect in their assets? They will also feel like they are unlikely to get much new money in this environment. I'm betting they duck and cover. To paraphrase an aphorism: "No one ever lost money underestimating the patriotism and courage of mutual fund managers."
