If they can't get a few fighter pilots guarding the World Financial Center (literally and figuratively) within 5 minutes of an emergency, the military is not doing its job. And they should have cleared and guarded the airspace over Whitehouse and Pentagon right away after the first incident.

If I'm not mistaken, the Pentagon is in or very, very near the flight path of the airport. If so, there could only be 30 seconds or so from veering to impact>>
