You know whomever(s) plotted this attack is aware that there will be a retaliatory attack by the US, and may have planned accordingly with follow-on attacks in the coming months, if not weeks. It appears they have a vast number of cells operating in the US and perhaps the two neighboring countries. ATI (Air Transport Intelligence) reported/speculated that the operatives today may have been moles or plants in place for quite a while before the scheduled date.
